Missing You. A Tribute to My Mom

Today is a day of reflection as I am overwhelmed with memories of my mother. She would have turned 93 years young.

Although she has been gone eighteen years, not a day goes by that I do not think of her.

My mother taught me everything except how to live without her.

She had a way of understanding my problems without even having to tell her.

The beautiful memories of the times we spent together make me smile.

There are days I wish I could have her back for just a little while.

Then we could sit and talk again, just like we used to do.

She meant so much to me, forever and always will too.

I find myself doing a double-take when I see her image in the mirror until I realize it is me, not her, just the way she always knew.

The relationship we have with our mother is unlike any other. Never take it for granted. In a blink of an eye, she can be gone.

Sending HUGS to you.

I know how that loss can be and how we can cry or smile with just a thought or a song or a item we see on a random trip at a flea market or sale.

That is so true that they teach us a lot but not how to deal with the When they are gone case.

Keep smiling !

I am sorry for your loss and missing her each day..My mother is 101 and 6 months, I miss her as she is in a nursing home and the visiting is very limited.. She has dementia and over the last 3 years it is hard for her to remember just who I am but with just a bit of coaching she finally comes around, some times she remembers me as her older brother but other than that she is healthy and not a worry or care in this world.. She has every thing she seems to need and for the most part is a happy person.. I see this disease progressing so that in the near future she will not be able to reach back and know her family.. But she seems happy...

Both my parents are gone. I took over the house so of course, in addition to all the memories, there are constant reminders everywhere of them. Looks like your profile has been deleted so I don't know how your comment was able to stay. Hope you are doing well

Yes, there are constant reminders everywhere. Some days the sadness is more manageable than other days. The happy memories are the most important to hold close.

Yes, I remember you sharing before about the situation with your Mom. I was fortunate not to have to experience that with either of my parents. I am glad you have been able to get back in to see her. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your story.

People who have been through it, do understand, When we are young, we think our parents will live forever. After my Mom died, I saw the quick deterioration of my Dad and he only lasted 2 years. There is peace knowing they are together. Thank you for dropping by.

Thank you for your virtual hug. Seems forever since I had a real one. When you have had a good experience with your parents, their memories do last forever.

Losing a loved one regardless of the circumstances is never easy. I lost both my parents within 2 years. I really think my Dad died of a broken heart. I encourage you and your daughter to take strength and courage from one another. You are Not alone.

I know it will happen some day, but I will never be ready for it.

Thank you for sharing, it gives me a moment to reflect.
I call her everyday, it feels mundane, but I know I will miiss that when she's gone.

My mother and I spoke everyday, including the day she passed which was sudden and unexpectedly at home. It’s taken me a long time to adjust to not getting her daily call. Gone but never forgotten.

Indeed I will. Since I took over the house, reminders are everywhere. I take comfort knowing my mother and father are together.

My moms birthday just passed also. Never a day goes by where I don't think of her, where I don't have little reminders of her. She's looking down on you, smiling, proud of the woman that her daughter has become ... *gentle hugs*

In Luv, Lite, Laffter ...
