Or, Thank God it's Saturday. No snow shoveling or salting today. ( unless the boss calls ) So I can relax and not have to worry about going out and busting my well toned behind battling the forces of Mother Nature and Old Man Winter.

Yesterday was one for the books around here. Aside from all the shoveling and salting, no less than four cars/trucks got stuck in the middle of our roads or at the connecting intersections. Two of those trucks being service trucks. One, a National Fuel Gas van, yeah the driver stopped by the complex to read the meters. ( yeah I bet that was fun for him, not! ) As most of the meters are buried in a butt load of packed snow. The other truck was a city plow, no not the big bruisers that barrel through here at thirty miles per hour burying everything in site, but a smaller three quarter ton plow with duel rear tires. Sent by the city to plow the side streets, well he stopped in the middle of plowing one because of a stuck car, and sure as anything got stuck himself and had to call a city tow truck to get out. The other two stuck cars were two of our tenants. Instead of waiting till the plowing got done and then digging themselves out, they opted to try and beat the rush and got out of their parking spaces and got stuck in roads that weren't plowed yet. All this happening while the snow was still coming down.

I spent all morning on the steps, and when we finished them the boss told us to take a long and early lunch. Great I thought, I can have some lunch, and thaw out a bit and use my heating pad not only to get warm but to ease my aching back. Yeah, that was the plan. Funny thing about us old guys, once our belly is full and were warm and toasty we tend to nod off. That's exactly what happened with me. I woke a half hour after I was supposed to be back in at work to a text from the boss telling me the other guy was going out to salt again...that he'd be at the shed to meet me, and I should join him there when I got the chance. Bugger. Late, the boss understood though, he's not that far behind me in age. As it was he was late getting back to work after the long lunch himself. When I got back to work, we went out to salt again, the boss to snow blow the walks that the plow drivers had reburied by the time we got done it was quitting time. I changed into my comfortable clothes, had a bite to eat. ( hey, manual work makes a guy hungry ) Then, you guessed it. Zonked out once again, waking up in time to catch the tail end of the nightly news cast at seven. Even with all that sleep, I was still ready to go back to bed.

Today I'm staying in and napping. I think I earned the rest. A matter of fact... I think I hear my recliner calling me now.....

Enjoy the down time.
I fell asleep in my truck once on a job site. Nice warm cab after a frigid hurried morning.
Nobody woke me for about an hour and a half. They just laughed at me I was startled awake, drooling, when a ready mix truck blew his air horn. 🤣🤣

Have a great day! 💋
