This weekend. With winter coming I know my old pair won't last for the season. Towards the end of last winter they developed a few cracks in them letting in the slush and damp. Nothing worse than wet feet, and socks when it's cold out. I've been thinking about going out and getting some for a bit now, and as luck would have it the shoe store is having a Black Friday sale this weekend, Silly I know having a Black Friday sale before the actual Black Friday, but what ever gets the people in the place to spend their monies right?

The pair advertised are said to be water proof.. we'll see about that. As long as they are comfortable and I can have them on all day ( walking up and down the many stairwells we have here many times a day ) with out feeling like I have two cement blocks tied to my feet and they do indeed keep out the wet and damp I'll be a happy camper.

A buddy of mine used to have a pair of knee high soft leather boots he'd wear when we used to go out to the bars to hook up with the ladies.. I'm sure they were crap when it came to keeping his feet warm and dry, but they did look good on him. ( A look I could never pull off with my short stumpy legs. ) They were also a bitch to lace up. But the "look " was worth the effort he told me once. I suppose? But the thought did cross my mind as it would have been harder to get them off as well, if he'd have hooked up with someone, delaying the fun somewhat.

For me clothing, boots and the like have to serve a purpose. I've never dressed for fashion. It seems silly to do so, at least to me. I mean it may make you look smashing, but if the article is not doing the job intended ( keeping you warm etc. ) what's the point?

In case you might be wondering, yeah the aforementioned buddy and I did hook up a couple of times ( I've written about that in past blogs ) I've always wondered what it would have been like to do so while he had those boots on? ( Just the boots) I mean they did really look great on him... But then that was what he was going for I suppose when he wore them. He's just moved back to town a couple of months ago, after being away for a year or so ( Job transfer, then a transfer back again ) I wonder if he still has those boots?

I'm off to shower now....

So, having come up in the world in construction, there is nothing better than a good pair of boots and some damn comfortable socks. Especially if you have to lug around in steel/safety toe.
My issue with some waterproof boots, is that they don’t breathe. Feet get hot.
For nasty days, I keep a pair of rubber boots. They have come a long way in comfort. Not like the old days of wearing an inner tube all day.
Good boots are a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Maybe you should get 1 pair of regular and one pair of waterproof. Then you can also alternate wearing them. Seems to help on the wear and tear and they have time to breathe so they don’t feel sweaty all the time.

Have a great day! 💋

I haven't worn rubber...ah boots in ages. I think the last pair I owned had metal clasps on them to keep them on your feet with your shoes on as well. A pain in the butt to put on and those clasps were4 always rusting in the wet. Have a good one Staci.

There is nothing worse than having cold, wet feet when working or walking my friend. Mine got soaked last night walking home in the rain when I went to work.It was not raining so wore a pair of suede slip on boots I have..Big mistake as it started to pour when working..Trudging home with wet boots and socks was no fun.lol. I hope you get a pair to keep your feet toasty warm and dry Hun.xoxo

Cowboy wore water resistant, lace up, combat style boots for work. They had something close to a sneaker sole - flexible and supportive. Yet they were high tops. Not knee high though, LOL.

The best pair of boots I ever owned I bought at the Army/Navy surplus store here in town. The soles on the inside of the boots were covered in tiny little bumps that massaged my feet when I walked, the lower shoe part was made of leather, and already waterproofed for use in swampy areas, the upper part of the boot was canvas and camo colored. They kept my feet both warm and dry and I never felt like I'd been walking around with cinder blocks on my feet all day. Sadly the store is no longer in operation they closed some years ago. Wish I could find a pair like those again. Have a good one Pony!
