HNW on Thursday - HOBBIES

HNW on Thursday - HOBBIES  This might be a long one, with lots of pictures. [Tease!]  It's really more about my art hobby. I love create. I say in my profile that I am an artist... because I DO ART. Not professionally; though I've taught ...that's professional, right?  My art is considered "Whimsical" in the respect that 's not realistic - I don't think I have the patience be realistic.  's a very personal journey for me.  I do for the exploration and the "therapy" of . Most of what I'm posting is coming from personal art journals that chronicled my life at the time.  So, yeah, this is kind of a very intimate post. I love collage and mixed media, and include in most of my work.   These are entitled "Man-Handled" & "Camel Toe" I don't usually have an end result in mind. I just start with a product and see where it goes.  I sometimes use found objects in my art to help convey my own personal symbolism: keys, bottles, different types of found scrap papers. Sometimes I write poetry to go with it...ekphrastic poetry; in fact, I Iove the combination of the two. It's the process that is so relaxing. I haven't created any art in a long time...other creative ventures have taken over my time and my space. But, I hope come back someday. Yes whimsical is a spot on description of your art. At the same time you obviously get great pleasure & inspiration from it all which I think is what one's passion should be all about. Great stuff.

That is some lovely Art you are showing. I have to say you look spectacular in that second picture. What a smile! My GF Diane taught an art class for 6 years and has done art for a long time. She says she did a lot of it as therapy for many years. I am honored that she gave me one of her pieces to me for our anniversary. I understand how intimate it is for and artist to show their work. Especially when it was also therapy. When she let me go though her works to pick one out she let me be naked but unlike usual she stayed dressed. Said letting me look at her work make her feel naked enough without being unclothed. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

Ha! I know how she feels! I've taught Seniors at the Assisted Living Community I worked at. We had an art show every year I was there and the work of those folks was absolutely incredible! It was so good, that I would invite the local press in to view it. And some are still producing works into their 80s! I am awed by them! I don't really draw. Have tried to revive a decades old urge but seem to lack the inner fire to so so. Or just lack the inspiration to do it. A part of me would like to though. I am told I have an Artist's Eye. One of the things Diane and I talk about a lot is art, color, composition and the history of it all. Makes for interesting car rambles as we note views and discuss the color and how to improve the composition of what we see. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

From Jim's friend-Love your art and that you too taught to Seniors. For me helping beginners start has been most rewarding. Love the Camel Toe and the first one a lovely face, really all. Hope you get back to it but maybe it gave you enough healing so you don't need it as much. From Diane If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.
