SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM  I’m not a good singer. Even in the shower, I’m not a good singer. I was briefly a singer in two bands, but not singing well was okay in those post-punk days! My lack of singing ability probably explains why I failed the audition to star in the Naked Boys Singing! musical revue. Above is me in the audition; I’m eighth from the right ... or am I eighth from the left?! I do not like my national anthem, God Save the Queen. Though I’ll stand up out of courtesy when it’s played, I will not sing it. God Save the Queen is a dirge, more suited to being played at a funeral. Also the anthem, in its opening line, mentions two things I don’t like - God and the Queen! The Sex Pistols’ God Save the Queen is a much better song. Below is Jamie Reid’s artwork for the single. This punk song, released in 1977, only made it to number two in the official UK singles charts. Some believed that there was an Establishment stitch-up to stop the single reaching number one ... as if the BBC would be involved in such a cover-up! Are you a good singer? Do you like your national anthem? Do you patriotically sing your national anthem? The national anthems that I do like are America’s The Star-Spangled Banner, France’s La Marseillaise, Ireland’s The Soldier’s Song, Italy’s The Song of the Italians, Scotland’s Flower of Scotland, and Wales’ Land of My Fathers. These bouncy and stirring anthems all have a bit of oomph, something lacking in Britain’s God Save the Queen.  |

There are only a few countries with a national anthem containing no words. Spain’s Royal March, one of the world’s oldest national anthems, once had words but the words are no longer sung.

1. Yes. 2. I don't like yours, technically ours too, but I do like Flower of Scotland. I particularly like the cricket anthem, Jerusalem. 3. I've been known to belt out Flower of Scotland at the top of my voice, both sober and drunk. I'm patriotic and was staunchly for the union until those idiots voted first for brexit then for bozz........nope, no thank you. If there was an indy ref tomorrow the nat's would win. Wait, sorry, wrong post!

How about Australia 🇦🇺 and Waltzing Matilda? Sorry to hear you don't enjoy your National Anthem, and such great questions for today. Yes I enjoy singing I am a good singer, as I used to be in a band, sang with the bands that played at the Bar where I was a bartender for over twenty years. And I love Karaoke too, some folks call me Patsy Cline when I sing. Our National Anthem is alright I wouldn't say its a favorite of mine. Yes I do sing it when it expected of us to do so as that's an honor or its supposed to be. I hope you both enjoy a great Hump Day.. Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Are you a good singer? - Terrible after my voice broke! Do you like your national anthem? - I've heard worse. Do you patriotically sing your national anthem? - No, I keep forgetting the words! You can't sing and you can't bleddy well count either

I sing karaoke. I proudly have a 4 note range; so our National Anthem is out for me! I've never given it much thought as to whether I like it or not. I sing it as necessary at games, etc. I much prefer singing to Bonnie Raitt!  ~~~" Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. Like my fellow musician and countryman, I sing lead or backup as well. I Love Canada's Anthem though and think it is one of the nicest ones out there..lol. We used to have to sing God Save The Queen at school every day.. Love the Sex Pistols version of it too..xoxo
