Nymphaea caerulea - Buddhism

In ancient Egyptian culture, the blue lotus flower is associated with the rising and falling of the sun. Nefertem, the Egyptian god that tended the blue lotus, offered the lily to the sun god Ra to ease the pain of his aging body. The blue lotus is native to Tanzania and Kenya and was historically, traditionally and effectively used, to relieve pain, increase memory, increase circulation, promote sexual desire and create a feeling of euphoria and ecstasy, without the use of narcotics.
